First and foremost, I will confess that I’m one of the few women in the world who doesn’t simply ADORE chocolate in every possible way. I might consume a single candy bar per year, regularly opt out of birthday cakes and if you actually see me eating chocolate YOU’RE IN DANGER.
With that being said, I had never been a fan of dark chocolate until I was inspired by a recipe from Ellen at Confessions of an Overworked Mom. The funny thing is, Ellen didn’t actually use dark chocolate in her recipe (inspired by another recipe) titled ‘Grilled Sandwich Recipe – Strawberry, Brie, Chocolate and Walnut‘.
Despite my lack of love for chocolate, much less, dark chocolate; for some reason the recipe seemed like it needed it. There are just some recipes where there is that “tastes best with” flavor and I really felt like this was one of them.
The sweetness of the strawberries, combined with the brie, which melds quite well with fruits and nuts with its soft-texture and slightly tangy taste is perfect complement to the bittersweet symphony of dark chocolate.
Prepare it on toasted french bread and it’s a grilled sandwich recipe that will not only make you love dark chocolate, but will be perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and even dessert.
The recipe is so easy, even a reluctant teen can make it.
In fact, I don’t even recall him asking for anything in return!
I love my son!
